4-Hour Continuing Education Requirement for License Renewal
All licensees must complete 4 hours of CE every two years, including 1 hour of sanitation and 3 hours in topics like Texas laws, mental health, and human trafficking prevention.
Simplified Continuing Education for License Holders of 15+ Years
If you've held a license for 15 years or more, you only need to complete one hour of sanitation coursework to renew. The remaining three hours of CE requirements are waived.
License Updates for Barbershops and Salons Started March 4, 2024
House Bill 1560 combines Barbering and Cosmetology programs. Barber businesses will receive new licenses; cosmetology licenses update upon renewal. An online crosswalk tool will assist in retrieving new license information.
